
Gavin McManus
Biography
Gavin graduated with distinction from the University of Manchester in 2004, receiving both the Charles Preston Medal for outstanding performance in his final examinations and the British Dental Association prize for best overall performance in his final year.
Following completion of vocational training, he undertook two years of general professional training within the North West Deanery and gained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has since developed broad experience in general dental practice, working across a range of settings, from predominantly NHS services in high-need areas of Liverpool to established private refrral practices in Manchester and Cheshire.
Gavin spent ten years as a Middle Grade in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, managing a wide spectrum of oral surgery cases while also mentoring junior colleagues. He later transitioned to primary care, where he focuses on oral surgery referrals. His clinical interests also extend to Implant Dentistry. He has completed a year-long programme with the Centre for Advanced Dental Education, alongside the gold standard of implant diplomas awarded by the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Gavin has taught postgraduate students on the MSc in Dental Implantology at the University of Manchester and has delivered lectures for NHS England and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has also co-authored a publication on implant dentistry for the British Dental Journal.
